Dr Ryan Dias

Ryan is a doctor in Child Psychiatry in South Yorkshire and co-founder of StartMedUK. He was awarded Psychiatry Trainee of the Year in 2015 for the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery. Ryan completed his medical training at Newcastle University, graduating with merit.

Ryan has significant teaching experience at all levels of medical education, and has been guiding prospective medical students through their applications and interviews for the last 10 years. He has interview experience with various different formats, including the ever-popular MMI.

Dr Michael Shenouda

Michael is a doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery in London and co-founder of StartMedUK. He completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College School of Medicine, graduating in 2010 with a distinction in clinical practice and a First Class Honours degree in his intercalated BSc.

Michael has significant teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including a Master’s Degree in Surgical Education. He has both interview panel and medical school examining experience, and has been successfully guiding prospective medical students through their applications since 2008.

Dr John Shenouda

 

John is an anaesthetic trainee in London, with a keen interest in education. He graduated from Brighton & Sussex Medical School in 2016, and also has a distinction Master’s Degree in Global Health. He is interested in medicine in the developing world, and regularly undertakes charity visits to Uganda to work with underprivileged communities. He has contributed to texts on medical school life, and is an enthusiastic teacher, helping organise and deliver local and regional medical school revision courses, and has interview panel experience from his time at university. He has been part of the StartMedUK team since 2014, with a particular interest in global medical issues and medical ethics, bringing a unique perspective to these common interview scenarios.

Dr Emma Cunliffe

 

Emma is a GP in Derbyshire, where she lives with her husband and two daughters. She began her medical career in the field of radiotherapy and oncology, graduating in 2000 with a First Class honours degree, and subsequently undertook her medical training at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2008. Emma has special interests in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. Her career in the NHS has spanned nearly 20 years to date, and she has a wealth of interview experience at all stages of the medical pathway, including post-graduate entry into medicine. In particular, her straight-talking approach and focus on the small details can help individuals refine their interview skills to achieve their potential.

Success Story: Samuel Michail

Mr Samuel Michail

 

Samuel is a 4th year medical student at St George’s University. He is a success story of StartMedUK. Having been unsuccessful in his initial attempt to get into medical school, Samuel came to StartMedUK and was subsequently successful in his application, receiving offers from all interviews he was invited to attend. He has since joined the team, and brings extensive knowledge of both the entrance examinations, along with MMI scenarios and techniques.

Miss Colette Hewitson

 

Colette is Head of The Music Department at The John Henry Newman School in Stevenage, having taught at the school for over ten years. She graduated from The University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Music, and has subsequently completed a Master’s in Education with Distinction in Leading Teaching and Learning. She has significant experience of mentoring students in writing personal statements as part of her work with A-level and Btec students, as well as interview panel experience, providing a particular focus on body language and communication skills.
